The land around Macaria, which goes from Gallipoli to S Maria di Leuca, is characterised by the Salentini hills where the sea and the traditional rural countryside meet together and live in harmony

The coast is rocky between Mancaversa and Ugento. But walking along the coast due south towards S. Maria di Leuca you find sandy beaches almost Carrabbean like. The beach at Marina di Pescoluse is known as the Maldive! Turing inland you will find old historic villages and towns such as Felline and Ugento, peaceful and sunny during the day and lively in the evening during the numerous village festivals in the summer. Not far from the camping site is the Regional Park of Punta Pizzo and the coast-line of Ugento. These are protected areas where you will find flora and fauna typical of this part of coast which is made up of dunes and marshes.
